The Watch Officer role will act as a translator for travelers. They will also coordinate transportation for travelers, assist in updating DS forms requested by the Embassy, and coordinate medical appointments and documentation. The Watch Officer is a main point of contact for the traveler community.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
• Translate and transcribe for travelers from Dari / Pashto into the English language.
• Coordinates transportation for travelers.
• Assists travelers in updating DS forms requested by the local US Embassy.
• Coordinates medical appointments and follow-ups.
• Coordinates traveler documents for appointments.
• Coordinates information sharing with caseworkers.
• Participates in IOM Orientation of new travelers and Pre-departure Orientations.
• Provides additional point of contact for community engagement with travelers by assisting in room inspections and routine follow-ups on traveler health and safety.
• Conducts routine patrol and engages with community members to ensure welfare and safety of all travelers.
• Frequent travel to Asia and Europe is required.
• Other necessary duties as required.
Experience and Skills:
Understanding of Afghan culture.
• Must be team-oriented.
• Afghan language proficiency; read, write, and speak.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Outlook, in particular).
• Secret security clearance (must be active).
• Eligible for OCONUS travel.
Physical Requirements:
This is a six-day duty week. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to stand for long periods; walk distances; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; operate office equipment, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and or move up to 30 pounds.
