Position Description
Serco is seeking a Higher Command (HICOM) Support Team (HST) Manager 1 to join our growing team of military training professionals at Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh, Indiana. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide consulting expertise to military or defense clients within the Joint Simulation Training Exercise Center (JSTEC) at the Camp Atterbury Mission Training Complex (MTC). The selected candidate will lead teams of experienced military professionals in support of dynamic training operations and command post exercises across multiple echelons.
This position is contingent upon contract award, budget, and customer approval.

The selected candidate will lead teams of experienced military professionals in support of dynamic training operations and command post exercises across multiple echelons.

In this role, you will:
- Direct the HICOM Support Team (HST) and Division HICOM Support Team (D-HST) composed of experienced former Brigade, Division, or Corps staff.
- Coordinate HSTs and D-HSTs to replicate higher commands (Division, Corps, Joint Force HQs), and provide leadership as Deputy Commander or Commander as required.
- Oversee coaching, mentoring, and training of Division and Brigade Commanders and Staff across all Warfighting Functions (WFF), emphasizing Mission Command and Command and Control (C2).
- Staff HSTs to support multiple large-scale, multi-echelon training exercises simultaneously.
- Ensure deliverables such as Division-level operation orders and other training documents are completed and disseminated.

To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A Master's degree.
- A minimum of 20 years of active duty U.S. Army experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in exercise planning using the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) process.
- Experience as a successful Brigade-level Commander.
- Expertise in at least one Warfighter Function (WFF).
- Knowledge of Mission Command Information Systems including CPCE, CPoF, JBC-P/JCR.
- An active U.S. DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI.
- A strong background in training management and Combat Training Center (CTC) operations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work on-site at Camp Atterbury with travel up to 10%.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The ability to plan, coordinate, and execute STAFFEX, MDMP workshops, CPXs, and related command post activities.
- Experience in scenario development and observer/controller-trainer support.
- A strong understanding of the MDMP and RDSP processes.
- A capability to coach senior staff such as Executive Officers and Chiefs of Staff during planning and execution phases.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Command experience at the Division or higher level.
- At least one year of experience with the Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP) or a similar program.
- Senior Service College (MEL 1) graduate.
- Former instructor at the Mission Command or Maneuver Center of Excellence.
- Former CTC Observer/Controller-Trainer.
- Experience with MSEL development and OPFOR role-playing.
- Familiarity with simulation systems like IEWTPT, JLCCTC WARSIM, and LVC-IA.
- Understanding of Multi-Domain Operations concepts.
