We are looking for a highly skilled Sr Network System Engineer to provide services supporting IT infrastructure and network operations across multiple government sites. The ideal candidate will leverage ITIL best practices to ensure efficient and effective service delivery, while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across all associated services.
Job Description
- Responsible for supporting the service delivery process by providing enhanced technical knolwedge and analysis to the O&M activities.
- Provide configuration management as well as planning required to meet availability and capacity requirements of the current services
- Provide O&M engineering support for the following:
a. Network Architecture Planning and Management, Integration and Implementation, and Network Performance Analysis.
b. Requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation.
c. Security Architecture Planning, Integration and Implementation, and Performance Analysis. - Provide engineering support for all changes to the network infrastructure and its service offerings. This support includes technical activities as well as establishing priorities, adjusting schedules, projecting staffing, estimating rough costs, and Concept of Operations documentation.
- Maintain computer networks, systems, and devices includes software, next-generation firewalls, virtual private networks (VPNs), wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), virtual local area networks (VLANs), routers, and other physical network-related hardware.
- Effectively work with all seven layers in the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) network model in a network with mixed vendor equipment.
- Oversee comprehensive network patch and upgrade cycle to ensure that all equipment, devices, and software are up to date and patched.
- Installs and maintains LAN and WAN hardware infrastructure. Coordinates installations or upgrades with users, building facilities staff, vendors, electricians, and other technical services staff.
- Provides immediate response and/or investigation of system alerts as a senior level troubleshooter in a complex network environment. Able to direct and train others in responding to system alerts.
- Prepares and maintains documentation for network cabling, backup, disaster methodologies and procedures, and connectivity infrastructure. Ensures that documentation is available and up to date.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years of experience in Network Engineering support
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Experience/Certifications
- Relevant technical BS degree
- Applicable professional certifications such as CNNA
- ITIL Foundation certification (Basic).
- Experience with routers, switches, and advanced networking solutions
