Operations Analyst and Personnel Recovery SME

Exercise GREEN FLAG provides a training venue for joint United States and coalition aircrew, air liaison officers, joint terminal attack controllers (JTACs), battle management personnel and weapons system operators in the planning and execution of joint air ground operations in counter-land operations. R&K provides subject matter expertise (SME) necessary to support GREEN FLAG tactical exercises.
Title: Operations Analyst and Personnel Recovery (PR) SME

Start Date: 1 July 2025 (Contingent Upon Award)
Duties: The successful candidate shall:
Provide Tactical Air Control Part (TACP) and Air Support Operations Center (ASOC) SME support to the Green Flag Support Element at Nellis AFB as part of the 57 OG.
Support the team with air ground expertise specifically focused on ASOC/TACP operations during training events. This includes exercise planning/after-action support; utilize the Air Tasking Order and Master Air Attack Plan to track tasked missions and monitor missions available for tasking; process both immediate and pre-planned DD Form 1972 Tactical Air Strike Requests (JTASR); operate and trouble-shoot tactical radios and load crypto; manage/update web based programs with current ASOC rotational content; adjudicate battle damage assessment; coordinate with Airspace Command and Control to de-conflict fixed wing assets with Army aviation assets and counter-fire missions; track active Restricted Operating Zones (ROZ); create Close Air Support (CAS) ROZs for Airspace Control Order; provide area of operation updates and assigned airspace to inbound fighters and receive mission results/bomb damage assessment from outbound fighters.
Be responsible for drafting PR training objectives, long-range and short- range planning for PR events including coordination with Rescue Squadrons and other participants.
Coordinating with Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape Specialist (SERE) support for PR events, including coordinating support from participating units' home stations and local Nellis AFB-based support.
Interface and coordinate with US Army planners with respect to personnel Recovery events during the exercise.
Conduct scenario control and role playing for PR events, to include providing inputs to the exercise to simulate Joint Personnel Recovery Cell participation, debrief participants, and write applicable AARs as they pertain to PR events.
Monitor live CAS missions and enter basic mission and weapon employment data into a mission monitoring database.

- Experience as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), USAF Air Liaison Officer (ALO), or USMC Air Officer (AO)
- Experience controlling attack aviation in military operations
Or
Experience as a rated officer liaising with ground elements and integrating air operations into military operations
- Experience processing JTASRs
- Operations analysis with experience working CAS
- Experience with planning and executing search and rescue and personnel recovery operations and familiar with current USAF doctrinal guidance on personnel recovery tactics
- Familiar with rescue equipment used by aircrew and aircraft, Common Distress Reporting System (CDRS), and Personnel Recovery Management System (PRMS), Joint Publication 3- 50, and current TTPs
- Ability to multi-task, and work within a team construct.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams).
- Secret Clearance Required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience as a JTAC
- Completed Joint Firepower Course
- Experience in ASOC or similar C2 node
- USAF Rescue squadron experience highly desired
- Proficient with Microsoft Visual Basic (VBA)
