Simulation Support Team (SST) Manager 1

Position Description

Serco is seeking a Simulation Support Team (SST) Manager 1 to support the Army National Guard (ARNG) Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP) at Gowen Field in Boise, Idaho. In this role, you will lead the technical and operational efforts required to establish and sustain a robust, secure, and effective simulation training environment in support of Army readiness.

In this role, you will:

• Oversee all training environment support operations including technical coordination, networking, and exercise design.
• Lead a technical team responsible for:
• Installation, integration, and troubleshooting of communications, software, and system configurations.
• Establishing and managing network connectivity and system performance monitoring.
• Conducting system backups, recovery, and patch management before, during, and after exercises.
• Applying IAVA patches, security updates, and remediating vulnerabilities.
• Ensure Mission Training Complex (MTC) capabilities to support simultaneous large and medium-scale JLCCTC-supported exercises.
• Coordinate SST support onsite or at Training Unit Commander (TUC) locations.
• Interpret exercise documents and design suitable system configurations.
• Evaluate system performance logs and error messages and take corrective actions.
• Maintain security compliance with DoD Information Assurance (IA) protocols and system documentation standards.
• Manage user accounts, data integrity, and ensure operational continuity of simulation systems.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• One of the following:
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in military training and training support.
• Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in military training and training support.
• Technical support and training experience at Brigade level or higher.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance.
• Ability to obtain IAT Level II Certification within 180 days of hire.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and maneuver into tight technical spaces.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% and work extended hours during exercises.
• Must be able to work onsite at Gowen Field, Boise, ID.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Proven leadership managing technical teams in high-tempo, simulation-driven training environments.
• Deep understanding of military C2 systems, virtual simulations, and information assurance protocols.
• Strong decision-making skills and experience in autonomous operational support.

Additional desired experience and skills:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Federation Manager experience in DIS or High-Level Architecture (HLA) environments.
• Prior FA57 or CP36 training background.
• Linux OS certification (e.g., CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator).
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (Windows 10 or Server 2012).
• Experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux and Windows server/workstation configuration.
• VMware installation and maintenance expertise.
• Familiarity with tools to deploy 1-400+ systems using government software deployment solutions.
• Meets DoD 8570.01-M IAT III or DoD 8140 DCWF advanced certification requirements.
