Serco is seeking a Principal Sustainment Analyst Trainer to join our growing team of diverse professionals supporting the Joint Staff J7, Joint Training, Deployable Training Division (DTD) at Suffolk, Virginia. This position is contingent upon contract award, budget, and customer approval.
In this role, you will:
- Act as a subject matter expert and trainer in the Joint Sustainment process while supporting joint, multinational, interagency, and globally integrated planning and operations.
- Participate as a member of Deployable Training Teams (DTTs) observing, training, and providing feedback to Combatant Commanders, component commanders, and Joint Task Force commanders and their staffs during Chairman's Exercise Program (CEP) exercises and other joint and multinational exercises.
- Ascertain key command challenges at the operational and strategic levels of war and conduct cross-functional analysis for development of lessons learned, insights, and best practices.
- Understand strategic thought and direction as it guides and is influenced by campaign, deliberate, and crisis planning at the operational level.
- Research national strategic documents, real-world operations, operating environments, command missions, plans, and orders, as well as interagency and coalition policies, strategies, and plans.
- Conduct trend analysis, improve battle rhythm processes, and support staff development of decision-quality information.
- Integrate into and provide functional continuity in the Deployable Training Division.
- Mentor, train, and support new Observer Trainers.
- Develop and deliver After-Action Reviews (FAAR, ESR, CFR, IAAR), post-event debriefs, and contribute to the Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS), Joint Warfighting Concept development, and Joint Doctrine.
- Update and maintain publications such as "Joint Operations Insights and Best Practices" and joint functional area focus papers.
- Develop and facilitate seminars for National Defense University's Senior Leader Education Program Joint Operations Modules (PINNACLE, CAPSTONE, and KEYSTONE).
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience; or
- Master's degree with a minimum of 8 years of professional and/or military leadership experience.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Thorough understanding of the Joint Sustainment enterprise at the operational level.
- Ability to train, observe, and provide feedback to joint force commanders and staffs during planning and assessment activities.
- Understanding of requirements for staffs to support the commander's decision cycle.
- Willingness to travel worldwide, including areas considered hazardous duty (up to 30% of the time).
- Active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Ability to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Familiarity with warfighting and joint functions including Plans and Assessments, Sustainment, Intelligence, C2, Current Operations, Fires, Cyberspace Operations, and/or Space Operations.
- Combatant Command, Joint Task Force, Division, Afloat staff, or Wing staff experience.
- Joint Forces Staff College or Service equivalent education.
- Experience preparing and conducting seminars or study groups for flag officers.
- Ability to write and prepare operational orders and plans.
- Experience compiling and presenting lessons learned and after-action review material.
- Experience with operational planning efforts at the operational and strategic levels.
