This position provides support to the US Air Force 386th Air Expeditionary Wing in the USAF Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP), Ali Al Salem Airbase, near Kuwait City, Kuwait, Persian Gulf Region. This is a direct, full-time position operating onsite in Kuwait. A Journeyman Electrician is formally trained and skilled in the Electrician's Craft. To fulfill the requirements of this position an Electrician must have verifiable five years' experience as a Journeyman Electrician and hold US Journeyman Electrician's licensure. This position requires minimal supervision. We prefer previous US Expeditionary Air Base support or similar contingency experience as an Electrician.

• Diploma, from an accredited US Secondary School.
o Or US General Education Diploma equivalent.
o Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five years' Journeyman Electrician experience required.
• US State or Territory Journeyman Electrician's licensure certification required.
Duties & Responsibilities
• This position is direct and full-time onsite with a US Prime Defense Contractor.
• Install, test, and repair grounding systems in accordance with accepted codes, standards, and manufacturer's recommendations.
• Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials.
• Provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, follow diagrams or blueprints, ensure that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender.
• Pull wiring through conduit, assisted by electrician helper. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knife or pliers, twisting, or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps per accepted codes and standards.
• Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools. Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.
• Connect power cables and ground leads to equipment and other electrical utilization equipment such as motors, HVAC units, etc.
• Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustment, relocation, or replacement. May repair faulty equipment or systems.
• As directed by management, supervise Employees or Subcontractor Personnel in accordance with "General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities.”

The 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, headquartered at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, serves as the primary airlift hub and gateway for delivering combat power to joint and coalition forces in the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility (AOR). Ali Al Salem and "Cargo City” are the busiest aerial ports in the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility supporting ongoing Operations delivering tons of cargo and many personnel. The wing also supports coalition forces.
