Location: Charleston, SC
Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and diagnostics on HVAC and refrigeration systems, including air- and water-cooled chillers (up to 300 tons), boilers, air handlers, and related controls.
- Respond to and troubleshoot service calls to maintain or restore proper environmental conditions.
- Operate, repair, and optimize programmable HVAC controls (e.g., Trane Tracer Summit).
- Maintain HVAC equipment logs and report on performance metrics and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and FLETC safety protocols.
- Support emergency operations (e.g., outages, disaster preparedness) per FLETC contingency plans.
- Track and report HVAC maintenance and training progress using government-provided software (e.g., WebTMA).
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience (within the last 5 years) in HVAC system operations, maintenance, and repair for complex institutional or commercial facilities.
- Proficiency in Trane Tracer Summit and other programmable controllers is highly preferred.
- Universal ASHRAE refrigerant certification required.
- Must possess at least one of the following:
- N.A.T.E. Core Service + Air Distribution or K.A.T.E. certification
- HVAC Excellence certifications (Light Commercial A/C and Gas Heat)
- UA Star HVACR Mastery Certification
- N.A.T.E. Core Service + Air Distribution or K.A.T.E. certification
Additional Requirements:
- Annual completion of at least 16 hours of continuing education through a recognized HVAC training provider (e.g., NATE, HVAC Excellence, UA Star).
- Must submit and maintain proof of certification and continuing education to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) annually.
- Participation in a rotating shift schedule covering 24/7 operations (morning, evening, and overnight).
