Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Research & Systems Analyst (ORSA) to join the Multi-Domain Effects (MDE) Division within the Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP) with anticipated travel in support of SSDP's priorities. This division leads cutting-edge analysis of advanced space capabilities to support national security decision-making. You will work at the intersection of modeling, simulation, and mission analysis to deliver data-driven insights on the value and effectiveness of multi-domain systems in contested environments. You can work either in our Reston, VA office or our Colorado Springs, CO.

This division leads cutting-edge analysis of advanced space capabilities to support national security decision-making. You will work at the intersection of modeling, simulation, and mission analysis to deliver data-driven insights on the value and effectiveness of multi-domain systems in contested environments. You can work either in our Reston, VA office or our Colorado Springs, CO.
Fun stuff you will do on the job:
- Conduct mission-level modeling, simulation, and vignette-based analysis of space and multi-domain concepts.
- Evaluate advanced U.S. capabilities against projected adversary threats using parametric studies and architectural tradeoffs.
- Translate complex analysis into actionable recommendations to inform acquisitions and operational strategies.
- Lead the development and application of model-based systems engineering (MBSE), DOTmLPF-P analysis, and physics-based wargaming.
- Oversee and implement policies and standards for study execution and ensure regulatory and security compliance.
- Drive integration across FFRDCs, National Labs, and industry partners in support of SSDP's research priorities.
- Apply Agile principles to manage analytical projects and maintain alignment with SSDP strategic objectives.
- Lead or contribute to Program Increment (PI) planning sessions, setting SMART goals and managing interdependencies and risks.
- Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders-including government agencies, academic institutions, and industry-to align technical efforts with strategic needs and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
- Combine operational military experience with technical acumen to drive data-informed decisions.
- Blend traditional and emerging analytic tools across all echelons of the Department of Defense.
- Influence decisions in areas such as personnel, force structure, training, resource allocation, and combat operations.
- Operate confidently across strategic, operational, and tactical levels-from Army divisions to combatant commands and national decision-making bodies.
Qualifications
This is you:
- Master's degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Systems Engineering, or related analytical field with 7+ years of experience in DoD, IC, or related technical industries, including 3+ years in a SAP and/or SCI environment.
- Must have an in-scope security background investigation (T5 or SSBI), adjudicated for SCI eligibility and enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable) and hold a current Polygraph security clearance.
- Strong experience with modeling and simulation, process optimization, decision analysis, and multi-variate analysis.
- Understanding of U.S. military operations, campaign-level analysis, operational planning, and acquisition processes.
- Proven ability to design and conduct mission-level analytical studies, assess operational effectiveness, and brief findings to senior stakeholders.

- Familiarity with tools such as AFSIM, SysML, STORM, SEAS, discrete-event simulation or similar modeling/simulation platforms.
- Ability to work in a flexible, fast paced, and highly dynamic environment
- Ability to multi-task and maintain deadline punctuality during pressurized situations
- Prior military service in analytical roles such as FA49 or AFSC 15A is highly desirable.
