GDIT has an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Administrator supporting infrastructure management on the CITS contract for USCENTCOM. The position is based in Tampa, Florida.
The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and supporting optimizing the command server infrastructure, managing both hardware and software systems, and providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior IT staff. This role involves regular patching, troubleshooting, and collaborating with other IT teams to implement infrastructure solutions that align with command requirements.

Work Requirements
The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and supporting optimizing the command server infrastructure, managing both hardware and software systems, and providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior IT staff. This role involves regular patching, troubleshooting, and collaborating with other IT teams to implement infrastructure solutions that align with command requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Troubleshoot issues within Windows Server 2019/2022 Operating Systems.
- Administering and maintaining the SolarWinds, SCOM, Nagios, and Dynatrace monitoring systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Configuring and deploying monitoring agents across servers, virtual machines, and networking devices.
- Developing and implementing monitoring strategies to proactively identify and address issues related to system performance, security, and availability.
- Collaborating with other IT teams to integrate monitoring solutions into the overall infrastructure and ensure alignment with command requirements.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to monitoring tool configuration, data collection, and alerting mechanisms.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior administrators and team members on monitoring best practices and procedures.
- Manage certificate lifecycle management processes for web servers and secure communication channels.
- Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Build, deploy, and maintain server applications and proprietary software.
- Install critical system patches and perform system upgrades.
- Interact with end-users to understand and evaluate functional requirements.
- Interface with third-party vendors for troubleshooting and support.
- Maintain system documentation and prepare process guides.
- Support projects to enhance operational efficiency and security.
- Track and escalate problems at the appropriate priority level.
- Produce management reports and informational packets to support process improvements.
Additional Responsibilities:
- System performance tuning and optimization.
- Review and preparation of comprehensive documentation for systems.
- Support cross-functional IT teams and projects.
- Evaluating vendor products and technologies to enhance monitoring capabilities and meet evolving business requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Skills:
- At least 5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.
- Proficiency in administering and configuring monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, SCOM, Nagios, Dynatrace, and Riverbed.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission.
- Experience working in cross-functional IT teams and projects.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for automation tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols and concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, etc.).
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
Education and Certifications:
- Required: Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Desired Certifications:
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- Relevant certifications such as SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP)
- Dynatrace Associate/Professional Administrator.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Foundational/Associate Riverbed Certified Performance Engineering (RCPE)
Clearance Requirement:
- Active TS/SCI clearance required
Travel Requirements:
- Required USCENTCOM Exercise support of up to 10% Travel during the Year to OCONUS Locations
