DESCRIPTION
Each day, hundreds of thousands of developers execute billions of transactions worldwide on our cloud. They harness the power of Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enable innovative applications, websites, and businesses. The AWS Security team is responsible for security for all of these services offered by AWS, including EC2, S3, and many others. Our team works with the many AWS teams to solve security challenges at massive scale.
Some of these customer require isolated regions to perform the work they are required to do. We call these regions Amazon Dedicated Clouds (ADC). We are looking for a Director of Security to lead the team that supports our AWS customers in these special regions. This leader will be responsible for interacting with executive leadership across the Intelligence Communities and the Department of Defense, as well as top executives across AWS, to meet our customer commitments and ensure a strong partnership.
Key job responsibilities
As the Director ADC Regions, you will be at the forefront of AWS's engagement with intelligence and defense sectors. Your role will be multifaceted, requiring a blend of strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership prowess.
You'll be tasked with building and leading a substantial team, potentially scaling to 200-300 members, ensuring that AWS maintains its position as a trusted partner for these customers. Your days will be filled with deep dives into security technologies, overseeing the design, engineering, and operational aspects of our services.
Your leadership will extend beyond your immediate team. You'll be implementing innovative management strategies that enable your organization to deliver exceptional results, even as it grows beyond your direct oversight. This role demands a leader who can see the big picture while still appreciating the critical details.
A significant portion of your time will be spent interfacing with high-level customers and partners. You'll be the bridge between AWS and leaders for these customers, translating complex technical concepts into tangible benefits and ensuring our security controls and integrations meet unique and exacting standards.
Customer management will be a key aspect of your role. You'll be responsible for handling escalations, managing relationships at the executive level, and ensuring customer satisfaction across complex, high-stakes projects.
The nature of our work demands a leader who thrives in a high-pressure environment. You'll be supporting 24/7 operations, making critical decisions in time-sensitive situations, and leading teams through challenging scenarios. Your ability to remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and make sound judgments quickly will be paramount.
