Program Summary:

The US Navy's Surface Warfare Schools Command (SWSC) is the "Center for Excellence" for Surface Warfare where officers and senior enlisted leaders sharpen their leadership, management, and professional skills throughout their career. Dedicated to providing the most sophisticated and up to date training, SWSC is continually modernizing training programs for highly complex subject matters. These modernization efforts include the conversion of content to reflect new systems and capabilities, modernization of delivery methods, the update of training equipment to meet emerging fleet requirements, and the overhaul of classrooms to support advanced technological training solutions.

Job Summary:

KBR is seeking a dedicated Instructor and Training System Support Specialist to contribute to the delivery of high-quality maritime warfighting and combat systems training for Naval Officers preparing to serve at sea as Department Heads. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with active-duty and civilian staff to ensure effective curriculum delivery, operate advanced training systems, and support internal processes for training execution.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and support the Maritime Warfighting curriculum, to include operational support in the Multi-Mission Tactical Trainer, preparing Officers for afloat roles leading tactical teams.
  • Operate and maintain the LCS Combat System Part Task Trainer to ensure high-quality training experience.
  • Assist in developing and managing training system programs to enhance instructional effectiveness.
  • Assist in new technology testing and technical reviews to evaluate their applicability for specific courses of instruction.
  • Write training system deficiency reports and recommend solutions to improve training system hardware and software.
  • Operate a wide range of computer-based training and simulation devices to develop officers' skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Coordinate, write, and conduct situational briefs for student training events.
  • Support system startup and shutdown procedures, as well as scenario development and operation for training system requirements.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience plus at least three years of at-sea experience in one of the following watch stations/assignments is highly desired:
    • Fire Control Officer
    • Combat Information Center Watch Officer/Supervisor
    • Surface Weapons Coordinator
    • Tactical Action Officer (TAO)
    • Air Warfare Coordinator
    • Surface Warfare Coordinator
    • Undersea Warfare Coordinator
    • Surface Warfare Evaluator
    • Anti-Submarine Warfare Evaluator
    • Officer of the Deck (OOD)
    • Navigator
  • Experience briefing students, individually or in a classroom setting, on the operation and performance of training devices.
  • Must have an active secret level security clearance.


Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Prior military experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Navy training systems and simulators.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new training systems and evolving technologies.
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring, with strong motivation to train and inspire the next generation of naval warfighters.


Scheduled Weekly Hours:
  • 40 hours/week
