Position Overview:
Anika Systems is seeking a dynamic Director of Technology to lead our Innovation Lab, serve as a lead Solution Architect for strategic proposals, and drive standardization of technology solutions across delivery teams. This role is critical to our innovation engine, responsible for accelerating the development of reusable, scalable prototypes that align with customer mission needs and increase the value we deliver on current and future contracts.
The Director will partner across Delivery, Capture, and Executive teams to operationalize Anika's "Show Not Tell" philosophy-building working solutions that address real mission challenges and resonate with federal clients.
This position will be a combination of remote and on-site in the DC Metro area.

Key Responsibilities:
Innovation & Prototyping
- Lead the Innovation Lab to develop proof-of-concepts (POCs), reusable components, and prototypes across technologies like UiPath, Palantir, Databricks, AWS/Azure, and AI/ML frameworks.
- Use POCs to solve current delivery challenges and grow revenue through added value on existing contracts.
- Partner with delivery teams to productize successful innovations and embed them into operational programs.
- Collaborate with program and delivery leaders to define and roll out standardized technology patterns and architectures across contracts.
- Align technical implementations with mission drivers, compliance frameworks, and emerging agency needs.
- Serve as a mentor to technical leads and engineers to uplift solution maturity across the portfolio.
- Lead solutioning for proposals and major pursuits, translating customer missions into scalable architectures and technical volumes.
- Collaborate with growth teams to support pre-sales activities with tangible demos and prototypes that prove our capabilities.
- Participate in customer engagements and industry events to promote Anika's technical vision and capabilities.
- Define and execute the company's technical vision in alignment with federal priorities and Anika's growth roadmap-including entry into DoD markets.
- Foster a culture of innovation, engineering excellence, and rapid experimentation within the technical community.
- Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and digital modernization strategies relevant to federal missions.
Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of progressive technology leadership in the federal IT sector, including experience in small/mid-size contracting firms.
- Demonstrated experience leading innovation initiatives and creating solutions for federal clients through prototyping and applied R&D.
- Proven success delivering solutions and proposals in areas such as:
- Intelligent Automation (UiPath)
- Data & Analytics (Palantir, Databricks)
- Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, FedRAMP)
- AI/ML, DevSecOps, and secure CI/CD pipelines
- Strong record of collaboration with delivery and capture teams to increase contract value and win new business.
- Familiarity with or experience supporting agencies including IRS, NSF, BEP, DHS; exposure to DoD preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a clearance (preferred: active public trust or higher).
