We are seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer with expertise in the design of high-performance data structures and storage schemas as well as the ability to perform complex queries to meet mission needs. This role works with the client to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions. You will collaborate with stakeholders to elicit requirements and analyze processes for technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform data investigations using advanced queries and data analysis to identify erroneous data, opportunities to streamline data collection and storage, enhance system performance.

• Support the analysis of future program data requirements to recommend data storage tools and techniques that provide optimal performance and cost-effective solutions for mission requirements.

• Collaborate with software development team to design data schemas and databases to support current program needs and future system architecture upgrades and transformations

• Support end users through the design and application of advanced queries to identify data issues and design solutions to resolve them.

• Design and implement scalable database objects such as tables, views, indexes, and sequences

• Perform database tuning or database queries and code to ensure high system efficiency

• Collaborate with Data team to implement system upgrades and patches to ensure databases and associated tools are current and secure

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5-10 years relevant experience designing and developing databases, advanced queries and associated tools

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically about business needs.

• Experience with designing systems that utilize database services such as MySQL, Oracle, Mongo etc.

• Demonstrated ability to choose the right database for the client's current and future state needs and requirements.

• Ability to utilize best practices when it comes to online/cloud-based databases such as networking, backups and redundant nodes and regions.

• A programming background to permit building of one-time-use reports and tools using Microsoft PowerShell, Microsoft Access, Style sheets, Microsoft SharePoint, etc. including the utilization of tools such as advanced SQL or PL SQL queries and programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python,

• A strong working knowledge of database software, both desktop and server (Oracle), including expertise with multiple variants of SQL DDL and DML.

• Experience implementing database triggers and stored procedures

• Prior experience working with DoD or Federal Client

• Proficient in requirements gathering, process modeling, and documentation techniques.

• Ability to choose the right database for the client's needs and requirements.

• Ability to utilize best practices relevant to online/cloud-based databases such as networking, backups and redundant nodes and regions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of DoD accounting practices and requirements and standards, particularly in a cost-reimbursable environment

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and principles.

• Familiarity with version control systems such as Bitbucket, or similar platforms such as GIT and SVN

• Experience with task and Agile management tools such as Jira, including ticket creation, issue tracking, and sprint planning

• Experience working in remote teams and contributing to organizational success

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
