POSITION SUMMARY
The Cloud Engineer provides mission-critical technical support for the United States Air Force's Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) and STATEFARM programs at Robins Air Force Base, GA. The engineer will research, design, develop, and test cloud systems that enable functional, secure, scalable, and efficient integration with both commercial and government cloud service providers.
This is an onsite role at Warner Robins, GA is responsible for identifying, planning, and implementing cloud-based technologies to overcome physical infrastructure limitations and enable seamless compute and storage scalability, distributed data processing, multi-source geographic data integration, and real-time visualization and analytics. Core areas of focus include synthetic Common Operating Picture (COP) development, advanced geospatial analytics, and enabling environments for large-scale machine learning and AI applications

POSITION SUMMARY
The Cloud Engineer provides mission-critical technical support for the United States Air Force's Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) and STATEFARM programs at Robins Air Force Base, GA. The engineer will research, design, develop, and test cloud systems that enable functional, secure, scalable, and efficient integration with both commercial and government cloud service providers.
This is an onsite role at Warner Robins, GA is responsible for identifying, planning, and implementing cloud-based technologies to overcome physical infrastructure limitations and enable seamless compute and storage scalability, distributed data processing, multi-source geographic data integration, and real-time visualization and analytics. Core areas of focus include synthetic Common Operating Picture (COP) development, advanced geospatial analytics, and enabling environments for large-scale machine learning and AI applications
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Architect and deploy cloud-based storage and compute environments that dynamically scale to meet mission demands.
- Apply distributed computing techniques to enable large-scale data processing and rapid performance across clustered systems.
- Leverage Kubernetes, Virtual Machines, containerization to gain installation and integration efficiencies, dynamic orchestration, and automation and deliver consistent, high availability, and scalable capacities for STATEFARM operators.
- Monitor cloud performance and track costs to verify cloud systems and capabilities are operating as predicted
- Lead implementation of multi-source geographic data integration workflows, supporting a wide range of data types (e.g., vector, raster, sensor, temporal-spatial).
- Design and maintain GPU-accelerated environments to support enterprise deployment of synthetic COPs, Machine Learning (ML) models, and spatial analytics.
- Enable real-time situational awareness using advanced visualization platforms including 3D terrain modeling, multi-layer spatial analysis, and immersive geospatial environments.
- Ensure cloud-based systems support rapid deployment, automation, and secure operations through Continuous Integration/Continuous Deliver (CI/CD) pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Align all solutions with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), NIST 800-207, and OMB M-22-09 cybersecurity mandates.
- Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, CI/CD models, and Requirements Review Boards (RRBs), to continuously align engineering objectives with mission goals.
- Document cloud architectures, system configurations, deployment scripts, and operational procedures.
- Assist the engineering team to identify solution development and funding of future technologies and funding models for cloud services.
- Support transition planning and cost model development.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to innovation in support of national defense and ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) mission goals.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Preferred: Master's Degree in Engineering, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, or Data Science.
- Required Certification: IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security+) or equivalent upon hire
- Preferred Certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of experience engineering and securing cloud-based systems.
- Experience implementing scalable cloud storage and compute environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-source data integration and high-performance computing.
- Familiarity with geospatial data analysis, synthetic COP development, and GPU-accelerated systems.
- Experience supporting ISR, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) pipelines, or defense-related analytics is a plus.
- Thorough understanding of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Agile processes and methodologies
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of cloud service platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible), and virtualization technologies.
- Understanding of virtual networks, DNS, VPNs, load balancing, and firewalls.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, Bash, or PowerShell scripting for automation and orchestration.
- Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS), 3D modeling, and advanced data visualization tools.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex systems in secure, mission-critical environments.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker), and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
- Understanding best practices for securing cloud environments and adhering to compliance standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to use a computer and related equipment for prolonged periods.
- Able to lift 40 lbs. and support system installations and de-installations as necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is an Onsite position that requires work to be performed onsite at a government location at Warner Robins, GA.
- The working conditions for this position may include the following:
- Working indoors in an office environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Must be able to be cleared for base or site access.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be available for a flexible work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must possess and maintain a current U.S. Passport.
- Position may require up to 20% travel, both CONUS and OCONUS, to government facilities for integration, testing, or collaboration.
