FPGA Design Engineer

Contract Position

Pay Estimated: $56.05-$61.05/Hour

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors, (geographical location, etc.)

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, integration, and release of cost-sensitive, secure electronic products from system architecture through production.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  
  Clearance:
  
  • U.S. Citizenship required by federal law. Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  
  Required Experience:
  
  • Proficient in FPGA design with VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with multi-gigabit transceivers (MGTs) such as GTX, GTH, GTY, and GTZ.
  • Familiarity with high-speed bus protocols: 1G/10G/40G Ethernet, SONET, OTN, EtherCAT, RS-232, SPI, I2C, and CAN.
  • Background in low-latency or time-critical designs involving PTP/SyncE or real-time industrial networks (e.g., EtherCAT, Sercos III).
  • Experience with signal/packet processing and communication link design (FEC, filtering, equalization, clock recovery).
  • Experience integrating external memory interfaces such as DRAM and SRAM.
  • Proficiency in using Git for version control and applying CI/CD pipelines for FPGA development.
  • Understanding of static timing analysis, timing closure, and floorplanning techniques for FPGA designs.
  • Experience using Zynq processors with Petalinux, Yocto, or Buildroot.
  
  Preferred Skills:
  
  • Hands-on experience with Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC or similar FPGA platforms.
  • Proficiency with Vivado, TCL scripting, and industry-standard simulation and synthesis tools.
