Compensation Range: $97k-119k (DOE)
Position Title: Information System Security Officer with Active Top Secret/SCI Eligibility Clearance
Location: Huntsville, AL
Role Overview:
The Information System Security Officer will serve as the principal advisor to the Information System Owner (SO), Business Process Owner, and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) / Information System Security Manager (ISSM) on all matters involving the security of an information system. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the implementation and maintenance of security controls, and directing and implementing the necessary controls and procedures to cost-effectively protect information systems assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction. The successful candidate will provide guidance and direction for the physical protection of information systems assets to other functional units and provide reports to superiors regarding effectiveness of data security and make recommendations for the adoption of new procedures. The ideal candidate will assist with reviewing, developing, and navigating the system, team, and customer through the Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditation/certification documentation process and perform network self-inspections. The Information System Security Officer will create new and edit existing documentation that forms the Authority to Operate (ATO) package to include the System Security Plan and IS contingency plan and develop Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMS) from vulnerability data and enter into the system of record.
Requirements:
• Active Top Secret/SCI Eligibility Clearance
• At least six (6+) years of experience in cybersecurity or risk management
• Experience with application installation, configuration, and operational procedures in support of cybersecurity mandates
• Experience with supporting information assurance and cybersecurity development of security plans or packages supporting Assessment and Authorization (A&A) of IT systems Authority to Operate (ATO), including the implementation and assessment of cybersecurity controls
• Experience in IT or cybersecurity
• Experience with network administration
• Must be able to discern the program policies and procedures, identify areas that need work and notify management of possible resolutions
• Ability to assess current and evolving security threats in an operational environment
• Bachelor’s degree in related field OR in lieu of degree, 4 additional years of experience
