Database Engineer
The Opportunity:

As a database engineer, with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and SQL Server experience, you know how to manage and secure database technology. At Booz Allen, you can use those skills to improve the database technology supporting the DoD's and Air Force's cryptologic missions.
On our team, you'll help address risks and minimize timelines affecting Air Force cryptologic missions and operations. In this role, you'll leverage your database engineering experience to maintain, sustain, and upgrade databases used for critical missions. You'll provide your client with peace of mind as you implement policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the database. You'll use technology and tools to identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical database.
In this role, you'll closely impact the Air Force's cryptologic components which are responsible for acquiring, analyzing, and securing communications to support intelligence operations. You'll use your expertise and skills to ensure the protection of sensitive information, provide signals intelligence, and contribute to national security by intercepting and decoding foreign communications and safeguarding U.S. military communications. With your technical expertise, mentoring, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we'll focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. You Have:
- 6+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining relational or NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or SQL Server
- 5+ years of experience implementing database performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization strategies
- 4+ years of experience supporting ETL/ELT pipelines in data ingestion, transformation, and archival within secure enterprise environments
- 3+ years of experience designing and managing data models, schemas, and access patterns aligned with application requirements
- 3+ years of experience applying data protection best practices, including encryption at rest, access control policies, and audit logging
- 3+ years of experience working with software development teams to define and support database requirements within Agile or DevSecOps workflows
- 2+ years of experience scripting or automating DB tasks using SQL, Python, PowerShell, or Bash
- HS diploma or GED
- TS/SCI clearance

- Ability to draft comprehensive documents to capture and codify work-related tasks
