What you'll do
As a Real-Time Earth (RTE) Customer Integration Systems Engineer, you will join a high-functioning team of expert individuals who provide state-of-the-art Ground-Segment-as-a-Service (GSaaS) for commercial and government customers. You will be able to use your systems engineering expertise to maximize customer outcomes on Viasat's Real Time Earth (RTE) network, a highly automated ground network designed to support customers' on-orbit assets from launch to end-of-life.
The day-to-day
As an expert in your field, you will be responsible for integrating new customers into the RTE network, beginning with requirements and concept discussions and analysis with potential customers, perform detailed requirements analysis of the customer's space to ground interface, develop and lead all aspects of the implementation, testing and validation of customer-specific mission configurations, and ensure delivery of network services to the customer. You will be a key member of the team involved with all aspects of RTE operations, including business development, systems engineering, and daily operations.

Salary range
$108,500.00 - $171,500.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $135,000.00- $202,000.00/ annually

What you'll need
- 5+ years' experience in design and/or use of satellite ground terminals
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, related technical field or equivalent work experience
- Experience with ground station/network equipment and protocols in satellite communication (antenna/baseband units, RF modulation techniques, error coding, and CCSDS standards)
- Experience in development and validation of hardware/software requirements
- Strong systems engineering hands-on integration and test experience
- Experienced in local and WAN IP networking including creating router configurations and establishing end-to-end WAN connectivity
- Excellent interpersonal skills (written and oral)
- US Citizenship Required
- US Travel up to 10%

- Experience in the use of Ansible and AWS
- Experience with software defined radios
- Proven analytical system design expertise
- Experience with monitor and control computers and related subsystems
- Experience in developing and implementing automated testing
- Ability to obtain a security clearance if needed
