POSITION SUMMARY

The Instructor will provide advanced instruction and curriculum support to the 8th Training Squadron (8 TS) at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), Colorado, focusing on the Protected Band Satellite Vehicle Operator (SVO) course, Protected Band Satellite Systems Operator (SSO) course, Wideband Satellite Vehicle Expert (SVE) course, and SATCOM Fundamentals classes. This role includes simulator-based instruction, courseware development using ISD methodology, and coordination with government and contractor stakeholders to support the readiness and training goals of USSF Guardians.

The instructor must possess operational SATCOM expertise, especially in MILSATCOM domains, and experience facilitating instruction in classified military environments. This is a hands-on, high-impact position directly supporting USSF's strategic satellite communications mission.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Deliver formal instruction and courseware development for the following courses:
  • PB SVO: Up to 3 classes annually (32 weeks each; 162 training days; up to 6 students per class).
  • PB SSO: Up to 3 classes annually (26 weeks each; 132 training days; up to 6 students per class).
  • WB SVE: Up to 3 classes annually (23 weeks each; 118 training days; up to 6 students per class).
  • SATCOM Fundamentals: Up to 14 sessions annually (2 weeks per class; up to 12 students per class).
  • Design course materials to meet government-provided Mission Task Lists (MTLs) and Ready Spacecrew Task Memorandums (RTMs), supporting operational and training standard development cycles.
  • Estimate 15 hours of development time for each instructional hour when updating or creating new content.
  • Operate and train using mission simulators such as:
  • Standard Space Trainer (SST)
  • Wideband Training and Certification System (WTCS)
  • Wideband Thin Client
  • Test and Training Simulator (TTS)
  • Liaise with STARCOM, SSC, and vendors (e.g., L3 Harris, Sonalyst) to report simulator issues and support upgrades.
  • Maintain records of student performance and qualifications, update grade sheets, and issue certifications as required.
  • Participate in after-action reviews and continuous curriculum refinement using feedback and performance metrics.
  • Support communications related to curriculum updates, training events, and student/instructor engagement across Teams, SharePoint, and email.
  • Coordinate closely with the Course Contractor Representative (CCR) and Training Lead on training operations and course execution.

EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • Required: High School diploma.
  • Preferred: Completion of a recognized military instructor course or equivalent civilian instructional certification.

EXPERIENCE

Required:
  • Hands-on experience with SATCOM operations, including Protected and Wideband systems.
  • Familiarity with USSF MILSATCOM organizations and command-and-control environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working in collaborative, cross-functional DoD teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for instruction, briefings, and documentation.

Preferred:
  • Experience developing ISD-compliant courseware, lesson plans, assessments, and surveys.
  • 2+ years of classroom and/or hands-on training with SATCOM systems or simulators.
  • Familiarity with SATCOM specific instruction and simulator platforms.
  • Experience with PEX or other training tracking tools.

  • Clear and effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Strong technical instruction skills and ability to engage diverse learners.
  • Organized and detail-oriented; capable of managing course loads and deliverables.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to adapt instructional approaches to student performance and feedback.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to use a computer and related equipment for prolonged periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This is an Onsite position that requires work to be performed onsite at a government location.
  • The working conditions for this position may include the following:
  • Working indoors in an office environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Must be able to be cleared for base or site access.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Position may require up to 10% travel to CONUS government facilities for training support, exchange meetings, or collaboration.

Salary Range- $90K-$105K
