Senior Systems Engineer

This position requires an active Secret clearance.

The Systems Engineer provides geospatial and information assurance support, including GIS data acquisition, analysis, and database development. Responsibilities include GIS software management, application development, and query execution, as well as oversight of security artifacts and reviews to ensure policy and process compliance.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Systems Engineer: $130,000 - 137,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Senior Systems Engineer Responsibilities Include:
  • Administers, manages, and monitors all systems, including databases in production environment
  • Design and implement high-availability solutions, replication, encryption, and disaster recovery solutions
  • Write SQL Queries, complex stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers
  • Troubleshoot IT network connectivity issues as it relates to web application or database performance
  • Troubleshoot desktop, web, database, server issues
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
  • Manage Microsoft Server hardware and software through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
  • Perform Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities
  • Utilize DoD risk assessment tools, technologies and methods
  • Plan, implement, and maintain a comprehensive enterprise-wide security program
  • Ensures all operating systems and software applications in the environment are up-to-date with security patches as required
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Sr Systems Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 5+ years of relevant experience required (advanced degrees or equivalent technical experience may substitute).
  • Required:
    • CompTIA Security+
    • Oracle Database 12c+ expertise
    • 5+ years in database engineering, issue resolution, and Information Assurance
    • Strong technical documentation and communication skills
  • Preferred:
    • Oracle DBA Certified Associate
    • MCSE or equivalent IIS experience
    • DoD RMF, Esri ArcGIS, SDSFIE, and USAF GeoBase experience
    • Web development skills (HTML5, JavaScript, SQL, etc.)
    • Familiarity with SharePoint, Tomcat, and JDK
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
