ManTech seeks a motivated and customer-oriented Engineer to join our team in Bethesda, MD. This is an on-site position.
In this role, you will collaborate with senior engineers and technicians on systems related to underwater acoustics, signal processing, and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV). The ideal candidate be eager to apply their skills in a dynamic and challenging work environment. In this role, you will collaborate with senior engineers and technicians on systems related to underwater acoustics, signal processing, and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV). Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist senior engineers in the design, development, and testing of projects related to Navy acoustics, including machine learning, UUV operations, and underwater acoustics
- Conduct research and gather data to support project requirements related to underwater acoustics, UUVs, and signal processing
- Develop and optimize algorithms for underwater acoustic systems, ensuring high performance and reliability in mission-critical environments
- Participate in system design and testing of underwater acoustic equipment, providing troubleshooting and technical support as needed
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including test plans, reports, and presentations, to effectively communicate research findings and project progress
- Assist in the creation of design schematics and blueprints for new and modified systems and equipment
- Work with other engineers to develop prototypes, conduct testing, and document findings for further improvement
- Provide input on system-level design, ensuring alignment with Navy standards and specifications
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and U.S. Navy requirements in all engineering tasks
- Must be willing to travel within the United States (up to 25%)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 1+ years of relevant experience, which can include professional roles, internships, military service with applicable technical duties, or significant projects/coursework applying engineering principles to real-world scenarios, particularly in acoustics, signal processing, or related systems
- 1+ years of experience with MATLAB, machine learning, UUVs, underwater acoustics, and signal processing, gained through professional roles, academic projects, or relevant training
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards and regulations in underwater acoustics and related fields
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and the ability to contribute to project planning
- Experience with system design and testing of underwater acoustic or signal processing systems
- Experience with acoustic measurement systems and signal analysis tools
Clearance Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active Secret security clearance or be able to obtain one before starting
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer or other office equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
