Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to support the Space Development Agency (SDA) in the design, deployment, and sustainment of resilient space-based network infrastructure. This role requires hands-on engineering skills, a strong understanding of network architecture, and experience supporting secure, mission-critical DoD systems.
The ideal candidate will work closely with government and contractor teams to implement reliable network solutions for terrestrial and space-based communications systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, configure, and manage secure and scalable IP-based network architectures in support of SDA missions.
Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, and security documentation.
Support integration of space-ground communication networks, including SATCOM and optical transport layers.
Monitor network performance and implement tuning, troubleshooting, and fault isolation procedures.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure network compliance with DoD security standards (RMF, STIGs).
Interface with SDA mission partners and stakeholders to align network capabilities with evolving requirements.
Participate in testing, validation, and deployment of new network technologies and architectures.
Provide technical input to acquisition documents, system design reviews, and engineering change proposals.
Required Qualifications:
Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years of experience in enterprise or defense network engineering roles.
Strong understanding of routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN).
Proficiency in Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent platforms.
Experience supporting DoD or aerospace/space-based network systems.
Familiarity with SATCOM, optical networking, or tactical communications.
Ability to support network engineering documentation and government compliance efforts.
Preferred Qualifications:
TS/SCI eligibility or willingness to upgrade.
Experience with SDA, USSF, or Missile Defense programs.
DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CCNP Security).
Experience with SDN technologies and network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting).
