Geospatial Analyst needed for a contract opportunity with SOC's client to onsite in Falls Church, VA.
Contract Length: 18+ months, multi-year extension possible
*Candidates must have an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly clearance to be considered for this role.
The successful candidate will work as a member of a government contractor team supporting custom mapping requests in both hard copy and online portal map formats, managing multiple geospatial projects under minimal supervision, working with customers to define project requirements and provide advice on processes and procedures for optimal visualization. The geospatial production effort contributes to complex intelligence analysis for senior policymakers and our country's leadership.
The custom mapping requests will require the candidate to have a strong cartographic background, with extensive use of ArcGIS software, to include Portal for ArcGIS. As a cartographer, the candidate will be responsible for researching, designing, and producing thematic and reference maps, in support of the customer's finished intelligence, including presentations, publications, and interactive products. Other geospatial analyst responsibilities will include supporting the development team, doing open-source data collection, working with ESRI-based web applications, such as Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Cartography, Computer Science, or related field with demonstrated GIS training or coursework) and 8+ years of experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- This position requires an active TS/SCI with polygraph.
- Expertise with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro software.
- Experience with ESRI-based web interfaces, such as Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, and Web Application development.
- Strong understanding of geodatabases and geodatabase applications and the ability to work with vector and raster datasets.
- Ability to use and edit shapefiles and file geodatabases.
- Experience working with different coordinate systems, map projections, and datums.
- Familiarity with standard cartographic methods, theories, and principles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Adobe software such as Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
- Knowledge of web scraping using current web technologies and concepts utilizing python or JavaScript scripting. Understanding of HTML/CSS and JavaScript/REST APIs to use modules such as requests/URLLIB to create custom scripts for data extraction.
- Proficient in parsing HTML and JSON data.
- Familiarity with QGIS.
- Understand how to code scripts or software routines to perform and control reliable web collection to include use of Python to design, implement, and maintain efficient and reusable code.
- Ability to research open-source data using public APIs.
