Job Summary: KBR is seeking a motivated, highly organized, and experienced Principal Specialist/Protocol Officer to join our team in support the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) office, based out of Washington, DC. In this role, you will manage and oversee protocol requirements, security operations, and logistical support for high-level meetings and VIP visits. This role is critical in maintaining strict adherence to government and military protocol policies and procedures while ensuring smooth coordination across cultural and language boundaries.

$122,015 - $183,080. The salary range posted is for Washington, DC. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

In this role, you will manage and oversee protocol requirements, security operations, and logistical support for high-level meetings and VIP visits. This role is critical in maintaining strict adherence to government and military protocol policies and procedures while ensuring smooth coordination across cultural and language boundaries.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with NRL hosts of conferences, symposia etc. to identify invited guests in time to appropriately vet them for entry on to the lab and into the events. Responsible for insuring guests have appropriate clearances.
- Coordinate with agencies of outside participants, including, commercial, US military and government as well academic institutions and foreign governments.
- Coordinate with NRL event hosts to provide support necessary to ensure that all required resources are available throughout the event.
- Ensures that proper security, diplomatic and NRL related protocol is followed during any interaction with outside agencies and other government entities of the United States and foreign governments. This includes military and government officials, as well as civilian contractors, members of the academia or media.
- Typical security related responsibilities may include enforcing and monitoring security procedures; ensures compliance with all aspects of the government and company security policies and procedures.
- Work performed in the area of security is performed in accordance to DSS (Defense Security Service), NSA (National Security Agency), and/or other applicable agencies which conduct regular security audits and/or investigations.
- Individual is expected to remain current in their knowledge of security via online training/other means offered through DSS or other industry recognized educational services, researching and following current events related to security and /or through professional networking security groups.
- May develop and implement security procedures in coordination with management personnel.
- Ensures destruction of classified and company proprietary information in accordance with policies and procedures. Assists in revision of procedures manuals.
- Ability to manage complex logistical operations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; experience creating professional briefing materials and official correspondence.
- May have formal, but limited, supervision of team members at a department or program level. May be the primary customer contact for assigned area of responsibility.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Requires 10 to 15 years of experience in government and/or military protocol operations.
- Requires active Top-Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI access
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree preferred.
