Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. As part of the accounting team, the Sr. Payroll & Accounting Specialist will be primarily responsible for the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll for 400+ employees using ADP Workforce Now and Deltek Costpoint. This includes managing payroll calculations, employee leave, deductions, tax compliance, and supporting payroll-related reporting and audits.
While payroll is the primary focus, this role also provides meaningful exposure to other critical accounting areas. The successful candidate will contribute to support such as accounts payable, billing, month-end close and financial reporting - offering valuable cross-functional experience within a collaborative accounting team.

Responsibilities Include:
- Process multi-state payroll utilizing ADP and Deltek Costpoint.
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
- Load and process payroll and timesheet import files.
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmation reports.
- Coordinate proper taxation of employer paid benefits and taxes in multiple states with ADP.
- Process quarterly and year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c).
- Record/Oversee payroll deductions such as tax withholding, 401(K), social security and other salary deductions.
- Assist employees with questions regarding pay discrepancies and any payroll related questions.
- Perform regular payroll reporting as required including general ledger entries, etc.
- Process rate changes, new hire, terminations, and benefit deduction changes through coordination with the HR Benefits Manager.
- Set up new states as required and coordinate with ADP on current payroll tax requirements and laws.
- Support annual 401(K) audits and reviews.
- Coordinate participant education meetings with 401(K) advisory team.
- Monitor 401(K) transactions and changes and answer inquiries as necessary.
- Collaborate and support with other functional departments within the organization.
- Proactively provide communication to employees on payroll relevant topics.
- Create standard, custom, and ad-hoc financial reports in ADP and other accounting systems.
- Assist with additional accounting functions as needed, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing support, and participation in month-end closing processes.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree
- 5+ years of progressive, relevant labor and payroll experience
Required skills:
- Payroll expert experience using ADP Workforce Now
- Deltek Costpoint working experience with payroll related entries and reports
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Preferred skills:
- Payroll certification as a Certified Payroll Professional
