The Opportunity
The Satellite Communications Operator Maintenance Technician will be responsible for operating,performing preventive and corrective maintenance on satellite communications equipment and associated peripheral support systems.
Key Responsibilities
Operate / Maintain various DoD and commercial satellite communications systems.
Operate / Maintain modems and baseband equipment associated with satellite communications.
Perform preventive maintenance on electronic equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair communications system faults.
Prepare written reports as required.
Utilize electronic test equipment to troubleshoot serial and IP circuits.
Perform COMSEC duties as required.
Escort visitors as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Active Secret security clearance is required.
Military satellite communications SHF and/or EHF operator course or equivalent accredited college/commercial education/military experience as required.
3 years’ experience in satellite communications equipment operations and maintenance required.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) satellite communications operations is essential.
Proficiency in troubleshooting electronic equipment is required.
Familiarity with basic computer networking concepts is necessary.
Ability to stand and walk for extended durations.
Comfortable working at various heights, including on antenna structures.
Capable of performing duties outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to work in confined or small spaces.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred:
Must be self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Familiarity with the U.S. Navy’s Communications Security (CMS) program.
Knowledge of the U.S. Navy’s Maintenance and Material Management (3M) program.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
