Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking an LMR Technician to provide technical control, system maintenance, and administration of the LMR system at Fort Bragg. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Army communications equipment, including trunked radio infrastructure and first-responder LMR systems.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot LMR repeaters, base stations, and subscriber units.
  • Ensure secure radio transmissions, maintain encryption keys, and support Communications Security (COMSEC) compliance.
  • Support LMR integration with Army networks and mission-critical communication systems.
  • Perform network diagnostics, RF signal analysis, and spectrum management tasks.
  • Apply and maintain DISA STIG configurations for LMR network devices.
  • Monitor and manage access control, authentication protocols, and encryption for LMR communications.
  • Diagnose radio interference, connectivity issues, and network failures affecting LMR services.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, software updates, and firmware upgrades to enhance LMR system reliability.
  • Optimize radio network performance, signal propagation, and antenna alignment to maximize coverage.
  • Provide technical support for military personnel, first responders, and authorized radio users.
  • Train end-users on radio operation, secure communications, and troubleshooting procedures.

Qualifications

3+ years experience in LMR network administration, radio communications, and system maintenance. Bachelor's degree in a related field desired. Must be Security+ certified (or hold an equivalent certification in compliance with IAT Level II). Must hold the following Motorola certifications: Motorola ASTRO 25 IV&D System Overview (AST 1038) and Motorola Advanced Console System Administration (ACS 15211). Experience with Motorola ASTRO® 25 Systems, LMR trunked radio networks, and RF communications. Knowledge of network management tools, encryption protocols, and cybersecurity best practices. Experience diagnosing and resolving LMR system failures and network-related issues. Able to train local users on LMR operations, security protocols, and troubleshooting techniques. Experience with RF spectrum management, encryption key management, and DoD radio systems. Hands-on experience with Motorola LMR equipment and trunked radio systems. Must have a strong understanding of radio frequency (RF) communications, networking, and Army communications infrastructure. Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties. Able to interact professionally with all levels of an organization. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
