Database Administrator – PostgreSQL Expert
Location: Remote or Onsite (U.S. Based)
Clearance: U.S. Citizenship Required
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Salary Range: $6,400–$7,500/month (DOE)
About the Role
We’re seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) with deep PostgreSQL expertise to join a motivated and fast-moving team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, secure, and scalable PostgreSQL environments in Linux-based infrastructures. Must-Have Technical Skills
* PostgreSQL Expert: Installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning
* Replication & Failover: Streaming/logical replication and failover configurations
* Backup & Recovery: Proficiency with pg_dump, pg_basebackup, pgBackRest, PITR
* Role-Based Access Control and user security management
* Large Dataset Management: Partitioning, indexing, and extension usage
* Scripting: Bash, Python, or Perl scripting for automation and monitoring
* Log Analysis: Diagnosing slow queries, deadlocks, and system issues via logs
* Linux Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with RHEL or similar
Nice-to-Have Experience
* EnterpriseDB, Oracle, SQL Server
* Tools: pgwatch2, Pgpool, PgBouncer
* Performance optimization, query tuning
* Git, Ansible, and DevOps experience
* Awareness of GDPR, SOC2 Type II compliance
* Cloud: AWS and cloud database deployments
Key Responsibilities
* Support and manage relational databases across host-based and distributed systems
* Design logical and physical database structures in line with client needs
* Create and test backup and restore strategies regularly
* Tune performance and implement high-availability configurations
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams on database standards and security
* Maintain patching, upgrades, and version control procedures
* Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory standards
* Participate in capacity planning and performance analysis
* Contribute to automation of DBA tasks and infrastructure enhancements
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
* 6–8 years of experience with PostgreSQL and other database technologies
* Strong systems knowledge of Linux/Unix environments
* Experience supporting enterprise SaaS and mission-critical databases
* Excellent analytical and communication skills
* Must be a U.S. Citizen and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
