General Summary:
Our client is seeking a Shift Lead – Mechanical in support of Muwaffaq Salti Air Base and AFCAP power plant operations in Jordan.
Responsibilities:
Serve under the direction of Power Plant Supervisor to operate and maintain power plant/spot power generators and equipment.
Troubleshoot and make comparable major repairs to Gensets, powered support systems, vehicles, and other major components (e.g., engines, generators, alternators, gears, compressors, and hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical components).
Assist in the control and distribution of the mechanical and electrical makeup and operation of powered support systems such as those described above, including their major mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
Troubleshoot and repair diesel, gasoline, and/or multi-fuel engines (e.g., PMCS, break down repairs, periodic maintenance, and overhauling those of 3 to 16 cylinders and up to 2MW of power).
When power production malfunctions occur and to ensure personnel and equipment safety, assist to isolate generator/s and bypass fault in order to maintain service or take actions to shed low priority loads when full service cannot be maintained.
Ensure correct testing and isolation procedures are followed before working on de-energized High Voltage Networks or Switchgear.
Fill in required genset service/periodic maintenance/repair documents/reports and turn over to Lead Power Plant Supervisor.
Request/retrieve service/maintenance/repair parts/components from Prime Contractor Consolidated Material Warehouse and transport to genset/powerplant service/repair location.
Take ownership of Power Plant generator fleet to ensure repairs, maintenance, overhauls, etc. are performed with utmost of quality/safety in mind and IAW manufactures service/maintenance recommendations.
Ensure less experienced members of power gen mechanic team are performing services/minor repairs to high quality standards and IAW manufactures recommendations.
Qualifications:
Experience in maintenance, repair, operation and troubleshooting of genset systems (fuel, induction, cooling, controls, exhaust, engine internal & peripheral) of gen sets ranging from 15Kw to 2Mw.
10+ years as Lead Generator Mech III in medium to large scale operation, maintenance and complete overhaul of prime power diesel gensets.
Must hold Cummins Mech III Mechanic Certification or equivalent or Cummins Certification for KTA50 engines and PCC3300 contollers or equivalent.
Must hold an active DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
Experience using all types hand and power tools, shop equipment such as hydraulic presses, drill presses, hydraulic, electric or pneumatic lifting devices, etc.
Experience using all types of measuring devices such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauges, etc.
Experienced working in international work environments with expatriate or US military.
Hands on inspect, test, and repair components of electrical systems to include generators, transformers, transfer switches, switch gear, PLC controls, and fuel monitoring and delivery systems.
Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards for electrical and mechanical trades, related safety practices, and skill required for the installation, maintenance, and repair of power generator systems and equipment.
Basic knowledge and training with current certification of First Aid & CPR.
Must know Lockout/Tagout Procedures.
Specific understanding and knowledge of power generation equipment startup and shut down and basic equipment maintenance procedures as they relate to the power generation equipment and/or auxiliary operator.
Must have knowledge of use and proper application of Personal Protective Equipment.
Basic skill level with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel is required. Intermediate level is preferred.
