Seeking an Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) Machine Operator to support our advanced manufacturing and composite fabrication efforts within the Advanced Composite Center in El Segundo, CA. As part of a high-performance team, you'll work in a fast-paced environment alongside manufacturing engineers, and composite technicians, to bring cutting-edge technologies to life.

Responsibilities:
Machine setup and Operation:
Set up and calibrate the VIPER machine according to job specifications
Load materials, such as carbon fiber or resin pre-impregnated tapes,
Programming and Execution:
Interpret engineering drawings, layup sequences, and machine programming.
Monitor automated fiber placement process and adjust parameters as needed to ensure precision.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect finished parts for defects like gaps, overlaps.
Record process parameters
Maintenance:
Perform regular maintenance, such as cleaning the machine/components.
Troubleshoot issues during operation and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols when operating high-precision machinery.
Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 years of experience with composite manufacturing and or automated machine operation/ NC automation/ machine operation
• Operate and maintain an automated fiber replacement machine, the set up; calibration and programming to produce high precision composites parts
• Basic computer skills, knows how to set-up cutters and other automated systems, some composite experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficient (1 year of experience) in CNC programming and trouble shooting
• Knowledge of composites material, resins systems, curing processes
