Seeking a full-time Air Traffic Manager - Training Supervisor (Supervisory/Management Level)in support of Base Operations Services (BOS) and Mission Support Services (MSS) at Ascension Auxiliary Air Field (AAAF). Your Impact
  • Ensure the facility operates according to military, FAA, ICAO, DOD, and host nation rules and regulations applying to ATC.
  • Supervise the work and duty schedule of subordinates, ensure operational readiness of facility equipment and associated NAVAIDs.
  • Develop and maintain the facility training program, facility training manual, and current file of pertinent regulations, manuals, charts, maps, and training material.
  • Ensure all controllers meet the physical standards required of their official job description and maintain currency in training.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are met and accurate for the facility, that local directives and operating procedures are followed, and maintain custodial control of facility forms, records, publications and their related distribution.
  • Conduct testing and practical evaluation for qualification of rating of controllers in training.
  • Administer written exams and conduct skill evaluations for professional controllers.
  • Assist and advise controllers during emergencies or distress situations.
  • Delegate responsibility to subordinates and assist the air traffic chief and airfield manager.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned air traffic chief.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Must have computer skills and be able to operate a variety of computer programs.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date.
  • Must maintain a valid passport from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date
  • Must be able to gain and maintain authorized entry onto US military installations.
  • Must meet United States Department of Defense medical requirements necessary to live and work at Ascension Island

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Must be a USN with a SECRET security clearance and a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified Air Traffic Controller with at least 8 or more years’ experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Graduate of a US military air traffic control school or FAA Academy.
  • Military MOS Army 15Q training preferred.
  • Facility rated and completed facility management and administration training for facility assigned.
  • Familiar with standard air traffic control and aviation concepts, practices and procedures of FAA, ICAO, and the military.
  • Working knowledge of aviation flight planning and Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) systems.
  • Knowledge of the Army Flight Following System.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in commercial and / or military experience in air traffic services, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to pass Class IV Army flight physical.
  • Ability to work night and day shift in austere environment.
  • Some heavy lifting may be required.
  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
