Network Engineer

FedWriters is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support the U.S. Access Board's IT infrastructure. This role will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of network systems, including LAN/WAN environments, firewalls, and cloud connectivity.

**Position is contingent upon successful contract award**

Work Schedule and Location:

Hybrid: This full-time hybrid position will work Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Eastern) requiring some on-site presence at the Access Board's Washington DC location

Responsibilities

• Provide network administration for LAN/WAN and cloud services
• Configure, deploy, and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls)
• Respond to escalated incident reports and trouble tickets related to network issues
• Track the deployment of network devices and maintain accurate documentation
• Monitor network performance and implement improvements
• Coordinate configuration changes via the defined Change Control Board (CCB) process
• Ensure network security in accordance with federal government standards
• Provide cable plant maintenance services, including installation and troubleshooting
• Support VPN and remote access capabilities
• Manage DNS services and network monitoring tools
• Coordinate with vendor and third-party maintenance providers

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a senior-level network engineer
• Experience with various network architectures (WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, SD-branch)
• Hands-on experience with major network device vendors including Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper Networks
• Strong understanding of network protocols and security principles
• Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Ability to document network infrastructure and standard configurations
• Ability to obtain Public Trust security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant network certifications (CCNA, CCNP, etc.)
• Experience in federal government IT environments
• Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and implementation
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and controls
• Experience with network automation tools
