Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Lead to drive testing strategy, planning, and execution for a major Air Force FMS legacy system modernization initiative. This transformation effort involves both code refactoring and adoption of low-code solution, Appian, to improve agility, performance, and maintainability across mission-critical applications.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of software testing, particularly in modernization projects, and bring a user-focused mindset to ensure the new system Air Force FMS System aligns with business requirements and end-user needs. The program includes a full modernization of mission-critical legacy systems and follows formal testing phases including Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) and Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and own the UAT strategy and detailed test plan aligned with project goals, user needs, and modernization objectives.
  • Collaborate with business users, developers, and system integrators to ensure clear understanding of functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Design, manage, and execute UAT test cases, scenarios, and scripts tailored to refactored codebases and Appian workflows.
  • Establish and lead UAT test cycles, defect triage processes, and sign-off procedures.
  • Coordinate and facilitate user testing workshops, walkthroughs, and feedback sessions.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements to UAT test scenarios using tools like JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Work closely with the development and QA teams to validate fixes and ensure readiness for go-live.
  • Monitor test progress, track metrics, and produce regular status reports for program leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive UAT activities, especially in low-code deployments.
  • Advocate for the user experience and ensure that the modernized solution meets mission, usability, and performance objectives.


Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in software testing
  • Must be a US citizen with an active Public Trust.
  • Proven track record supporting legacy modernization programs or enterprise application upgrades.
  • Hands-on experience with low-code/no-code platforms
  • Familiarity with code refactoring tools and approaches (e.g., automated code transformation, monolith-to-microservices).
  • Strong understanding of test planning, execution, and defect management tools.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in Agile, SAFe, or hybrid environments.
  • Ability to translate business processes into test scenarios and collaborate with non-technical users.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Skills:
  • Appian Certified Associate Developer or higher is a plus
  • Experience working in government
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps or Continuous Testing frameworks
