Leidos’ Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) operation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (C++) in Tewksbury, MA to join our cross-functional engineering team using cutting edge technology to develop truly novel solutions that make travel and trade safer, healthier, and more efficient on a global level. This individual will be apart of supporting our next generation CT X-Ray products.

We are seeking local candidates in the Tewksbury, MA area that can work onsite full time (Day Shift). We are offering a 9/80 work schedule (Every Other Friday Off!)

As a Senior Software Engineer (C++) on our diverse and collaborative team, you will work alongside our expert Scientists and Engineers, contributing to Leidos products with global impact on security detection. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill software development – you’ll be honing your engineering skills with instrumentation products, real-time programming, and object-oriented design, all with the support of a management team focused on your professional growth and advancement. Working under general supervision in a diverse team, your primary responsibility will be to develop, modify and troubleshoot multi-tiered distributed applications and systems. The duties and responsibilities may change from time to time without notice and include but are not limited to the duties described below.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C++ code using good OOP/OOAD techniques for our systems.
  • Optimize, identify bottlenecks, bugs, and devise solutions to problems including: Maintain code quality, revision control and organization, analyze customer issues and identify and implement solutions, participate and contribute within a defined software development process.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.  Travel may be domestic and international.
  • Participate in the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products.
  • Applies appropriate principles, standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle. Duties include software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms.
  • Perform in depth analysis of operating software data occasionally received from customer site to troubleshoot issue remotely. 
  • Develops solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple area or disciplines.
  • Regularly employs ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions and systems to achieve functional objectives.
  • Communicates with internal team members across multiple areas and client team members.
  • Works to influence project/team leaders regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Requires BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or master’s with 6+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance (US citizenship required).
  • Working knowledge of C++ and OOP/OOAD
  • Requires expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design solutions.
  • Understanding of memory management, multicore processors, and distributed systems design, multithreaded and inter process communication.
  • Experience with DMA controllers and device drivers.
  • Experience with analyzing large code base to update code with minimum performance impact.   


Preferred Skills:
  • GPU Programming with CUDA and/or OpenGL (Highly Desirable)
  • Graphics Design, GUI development
  • Experience with Qt 5 or above building GUI and business layer applications.
  • Linux Platform development that includes CMake style builds, and RPM installs.
  • Interfacing with hardware, control subsystem and real-time debugging.
  • Good working knowledge of SQL
  • Working knowledge of Cybersecurity
  • Working knowledge of networking solutions.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies

Pay Range: Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
