Senior Aviation Military Analyst (Cargo Helicopter SME)

We're seeking a highly experienced Senior Aviation Military Analyst with deep knowledge in in cargo helicopters to support Army Capability Managers (ACMs) and the Capability Development and Integration Directorate (CDID). This high-impact role involves conducting formation-based assessments, capability development, and in-depth analysis to shape future Army Aviation operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct formation-based assessments for Army aviation organizations, including support to simulation activities and capabilities needs assessments.
  • Analyze aviation tasks, conditions, standards, and identify operational gaps across various formations.
  • Lead or support the authorship and revision of JCIDS and other capability development documentation.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of manned and unmanned platforms in Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO) environments.
  • Support experimentation and concept development efforts within the Capability Development and Integration Directorate (CDID).
  • Participate in capability development efforts with senior-level stakeholders and military leadership.
  • Produce high-quality written products including white papers, operational views, and concept documents with minimal oversight.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Rated Army Aviator with 15+ years of aviation flight and combat operations experience.
  • Senior or Master Aviator rating in Army Aviation utility helicopters.
  • Graduate of military staff courses such as CGSC/ILE or Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course.
  • Experience leading aviation-related studies or operational test events.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in combat/capability development.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently and produce senior-level analysis and written deliverables.
  • Standardization Instructor Pilot (SIP) or Instructor Pilot (IP) experience in utility helicopter formations.
  • Experience as a Maintenance Test Pilot or Maintenance Examiner.
  • Operational leadership of large aviation units (400-2800+ personnel).
  • Prior combat deployments with utility aviation elements.
  • Direct experience authoring JROC-approved JCIDS documentation.
  • Participation in Joint Working Groups or Army-level wargames.
  • Experience with planning and executing experimentation and emerging tech evaluations.
