Background information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer, Kill Chain System of Systems to be based in our Arlington, VA office. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. Overview:
IDT seeks to add a Sr Systems Engineer, Kill Chain System of Systems responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and integrating Virtual Weapon Systems and Automated Test Software that is hosted in government and IDT classified environments. At the core of the test environment is IDT's flagship product, Automated Test and Re-Test (ATRT) Enterprise Platform (AEP), which enables virtualized combat system software to be deployed within virtual test beds to execute operational missions alongside ATRT's suite of automated test and analysis tools. The selected Sr. Systems Engineer will be responsible to lead digital system integration including software virtualization, hardware emulation, and modeling and simulation components within an Integrated Digital Engineering Environment (IDEE). Candidate should have prior experience working with virtualized and containerized systems, system models, and hardware emulation. The candidate will be familiar with US Navy and DOD mission areas, operational networks and distributed kill chains. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to interfacing with customers and optimizing IDEE setups to support operational organizations.

Pay Range* : $164,000 - $273,000 or $198,000 - $328,000
This amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate's experience, skills, and education. The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT is often looking to place multiple candidates at various levels. Therefore, more than one pay range has been included, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities Include:
- Lead a team of Model Based System Engineers to accurately represent evolving DOD kill chains with SysML models.
- Lead a detailed analysis of existing system-of-system representations, including software virtualization, hardware emulation, and modeling and simulation components.
- Lead the development of a plan to create new digital system representations to match the needs of the customer.
- Lead the integration of digital systems within a government owned IDEE to support system-of-systems (SoS) development, integration, test, and evaluation.
- Work closely with the US government representatives and stakeholders to obtain existing digital artifacts and justify the need for additional digital artifacts based on fidelity requirements.
- Lead development and implementation of a plan to verify and validate individual digital system representations and the integrated SoS environment.
- Lead development and implementation of a plan to periodically update and test digital representations and the integrated SoS environment.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, such as Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or equivalent. Master's degree in relevant technical discipline is preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Defense Industry, including digital system development and integration
- Experience with DOD operational and tactical networks
Required skills:
- Defense system integration and test experience, with server and/or desktop virtualization
- Familiar with operational network establishment and operations
- Virtualization infrastructure experience with VMware/KVM or similar virtualization tools
- Ability to lead technical teams in the logical systematic conversion of program requirements into solution(s) that are accountable to technical and cost constraints
- Familiarity with Agile software development processes
- Clearance: Secret or ability to achieve Secret clearance
- Ability to travel approximately 10%
Preferred skills:
- Experience working with commercial or military aviation enabling systems (e.g., A-10, F-16, F/A-18, F-22, F-35, MQ-1, MQ-9, MQ-25, TTWCS, B-1, B-2, B-21, B-52, KC-130, E-2D, E-3, Boeing or Airbus aircraft)
- Experience working with military aviation-based weapons (e.g., Tomahawk, LRASM, AIM-9X, AARGM, SDB-II, JSM)
- Experience working with military aviation-based sensors and data (e.g. radar, electronic warfare, electro-optical, infrared, sonar, stores management, air data, fuel data, weapons data, engine data)
- Networking experience - TCP/IP, DNS, NetBIOS, VLAN, Routing, LAN/WAN
- Hardware emulation experience (e.g. Simics or QEMU)
