Description
Vistra has an immediate opening for a part time (20 hours a week) Legislative Affairs and Communications Analyst to support Department of Defense clients. The Legislative Affairs and Communications Analyst will monitor defense legislation, pertinent hearings, markups, and floor actions. This position will also provide clients with clear messaging products to effectively communicate with stakeholders. While this is a remote position, the Legislative Affairs and Communications Analyst must be available to support periodic requirements onsite at the Pentagon as requested.

The Legislative Affairs and Communications Analyst will monitor defense legislation, pertinent hearings, markups, and floor actions. Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze defense specific legislation, policy, hearings, and regulations
- Prepare client staff for congressional hearings
- Draft responses to congressional and other stakeholder inquiries
- Create messaging products to communicate office priorities and accomplishments to various stakeholder groups
- Connect and synchronize several factors to develop cohesive, comprehensive information papers and responses to requests for information
- Provide detailed interpretation and examine complex legislative issues to identify gaps and possible solutions and improvements
- Work independently to track trends and issues, anticipate emerging needs or new requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of directly related experience or master's degree and 1+ years directly related experience
- 1+ years of experience with legislative affairs
- Demonstrated understanding of the legislative and regulatory process
- Ability to provide clear verbal and written communications to a variety of clients and stakeholders
- Expertise in civil rights or equal opportunity law preferred
- Experience working in a military environment or with military personnel preferred
- Experience developing responses to requests for information preferred
- Must have a Secret clearance
