Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support the HSV (High-Speed Vehicle) program. This mission-critical role involves engineering and implementing cybersecurity solutions that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified systems under the Department of Defense (DoD). The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of RMF, hands-on experience with secure system architectures, and a proactive approach to cyber risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineer system security features in alignment with RMF and NIST 800-53 requirements for the HSV program.
Analyze system designs and integrate security controls to meet compliance and accreditation standards.
Develop and maintain cybersecurity documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Control Traceability Matrices (SCTMs), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
Conduct technical risk assessments and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to remediate vulnerabilities.
Support ATO/ATC efforts by preparing documentation, responding to assessments, and coordinating with ISSMs and Authorizing Officials (AOs).
Utilize security tools such as ACAS, STIG Viewer, Nessus, and SCAP to monitor, scan, and validate system configurations.
Implement security policies, procedures, and safeguards for classified systems, ensuring alignment with DoD cybersecurity frameworks.
Required Qualifications:
Active DoD Secret Clearance.
5+ years of experience in system security engineering or cybersecurity compliance in a federal/DoD setting.
In-depth knowledge of RMF, NIST SP 800-53, and DISA STIGs.
Experience supporting classified systems and developing accreditation artifacts.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate cybersecurity requirements into technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
CISSP, CAP, or other DoD 8570 IAM/IAT Level II+ certifications.
Familiarity with cloud security practices or secure containerized environments.
Experience supporting weapons systems or high-assurance platforms in a classified environment.
Work Environment & Conditions:
On-site role in Colorado Springs, CO.
Some after-hours or on-call support may be required.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
