Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager, supporting the Maritime Land Systems and Sensors (MLSS) Division located in Linthicum, Maryland. This position will be on-site and co-located with the MLSS Division Leadership Team.
The Quality and Mission Assurance (QMA) Systems Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a geographically distributed, highly dynamic, multi-discipline Mission Assurance team to deliver to our customers' mission needs.
The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate the skillset of a leader. The Candidate must have exceptional leadership and teambuilding skills, strategic thinking, and strong technical acumen. The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation experience and the demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the organization. The candidate must have the ability to build consensus and resolve conflict. The candidate must collaborate with business area leadership, and other functional partners to resolve complex issues in a timely manner to help meet program commitments.

Salary Range: $178,500.00 - $267,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

In this role, the MLSS QMA Systems Engineering Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Act as an advisor to MA Managers and staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.
- Facilitate early quality engagement into the design engineering process and downstream manufacturability issues.
- Provide cross-functional leadership by facilitating collaboration between various departments, including Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Contracts, GSC, etc. Engage directly with these organizations to find real-time solutions to internal constraints and manage/mitigate risks to external customer needs.
- Collect, analyze and report metrics / key performance indicators and then take actions to mitigate risks and improve team performance.
- Be an expert facilitator with experience leading root cause and corrective action process (RCCA) and analysis on failure investigations for high impact issues and lead personnel in use of RCCA for low impact level issues.
- Position may require travel up to 25% of the time to support distributed team.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics with a minimum of 8 years of quality or systems engineering experience, a Master's degree and a Bachelors in a STEM field with a minimum 6 years of quality or systems engineering experience or a PhD and a Bachelors in a STEM field with 4+ years of experience in quality or systems engineering .
- 3 plus years of professional experience in defense or aerospace industries
- 3 plus years demonstrated success managing technical teams as a team lead or direct supervisor
- 2 plus years of experience working in a technical role
- Experience in the implementation of proactive Quality Management tools: DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, etc
- Experience with technical, cost, and schedule impacts on a program as well as risk and opportunity management
- U.S. Citizen
- Candidate must currently have and be able to maintain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.

- Program/Project management experience
- Success as a leader of large functional organization, cross-functional/sector experience
- Experience managing large control accounts with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and technical performance.
- Experience with product line management and product line engineering.
- Experience creating and executing affordability initiatives.
