Subject Matter Expert

This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance and United States citizenship to be considered.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support complex real property projects and services within a DoD environment. This role involves policy development, process improvement, program effectiveness assessments, and resolving challenging accountability and inventory issues. The ideal candidate brings analytical depth, regulatory knowledge, leadership capabilities, and real property expertise.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Subject Matter Expert: 95,000 - 110,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Subject Matter Expert Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage and participate in specialized real property projects and policy development
  • Design and conduct studies to improve services, projects, and activities
  • Investigate and analyze unusual real property accountability/inventory issues
  • Prepare reports, documents, and correspondence on real property topics
  • Apply analytical methods to assess and improve program effectiveness
  • Support and maintain open, cooperative communication with program staff
  • Ensure compliance with DoD real property policies and audit readiness processes
  • Update and align DoD policies based on field input and leadership review
  • Oversee acquisition, lease, and disposition processes for real property assets
  • Support Process Cycle Memorandum and Business Process Narrative documentation
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Subject Matter Expert Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working in real property projects and activities
  • National Property Management Association (NPMA) certification preferred
  • In-depth understanding of real property, acquisition, leasing, and disposition
  • Knowledge of DoD policies and guidelines and audit readiness processes
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills; experience using templates
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and policy implementation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
  • Demonstrated leadership and relationship management abilities
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
