Country Intelligence Group is seeking a Full-Time Cyber Security Engineer to support our client located in Herndon, Virginia.
The selected candidate will be part of a highly technical and in-depth penetration testing and ethical hacking team focused on assessing and exploiting risks and vulnerabilities in information systems.
The team provides actionable security insights to senior decision-makers, helping guide strategic investment and risk mitigation efforts.
Job Description:
Work Requirements and Essential Job Functions
• Conduct penetration testing and ethical hacking to identify security risks and system vulnerabilities.
• Perform risk and threat analysis to provide decision-makers with actionable cybersecurity insights.
• Document all identified system risks, planned test procedures, and test results.
• Analyze vulnerabilities discovered during testing and assess potential security risks.
• Review program-level documentation (e.g., system architecture, test plans, security plans) and provide recommendations to enhance cybersecurity posture.
• Develop and document penetration testing plans, procedures, and security assessments.
• Perform hands-on security testing, leveraging adversarial tactics to identify security gaps.
• Recommend and document risk mitigation strategies based on penetration test findings.
• Participate in technical exchange meetings and application review boards, documenting outcomes and action items.
• Provide briefings and status updates to senior leadership regarding cybersecurity risks and security testing results.
Education, Skills and Qualifications
• Proven work experience in cybersecurity or a related IT field.
• Expertise in cyber penetration testing and ethical hacking methodologies.
• Proficiency in computer attack methods and system exploitation techniques.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles across Linux, Windows, and virtualized environments.
• Experience designing, testing, or implementing IT security architectures.
• Network security analysis and vulnerability assessment expertise.
• Ability to analyze network architectures to identify security risks.
• Proficiency in using network management and security monitoring tools.
• Experience leveraging adversarial tactics to conduct hands-on security testing.
• Development of risk management methodologies and frameworks.
• Experience analyzing penetration test results to create threat mitigation strategies.
• Expertise in testing and reviewing enterprise system configurations, development, and security designs.
• Experience designing, testing, or implementing complex Windows installations.
• Participation in public and private cybersecurity groups and organizations. (Preferred)
• Ability to communicate cybersecurity vulnerabilities and risk postures to senior executives. (Preferred)
• Experience researching, evaluating, and developing security policies and compliance guidelines. (Preferred)
• Ability to perform complex technical tasks with minimal direction. (Preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. (Preferred)
