🚀 VR/XR Lab Developer – Williamsburg, VA
Ballistic Digital is looking for a creative and tech-savvy Lab Developer to help shape the future of immersive learning. This is a unique opportunity to support a cutting-edge, multi-year government program and run a state-of-the-art VR/XR lab that empowers students and instructors through innovation and interactivity.
What You'll Be Doing:
As the VR/XR Lab Developer, you’ll bring immersive experiences to life—building, supporting, and maintaining the systems that make our lab a hub for future-forward learning. You’ll work closely with government instructors, troubleshoot gear and network issues, and get hands-on with some of the most exciting tech in the XR space.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and maintaining XR/VR/AR applications using Unity 3D or Unreal Engine
Managing and supporting immersive hardware (headsets, sensors, inputs, etc.)
Helping instructors and learners get the most out of the lab
Overseeing day-to-day lab operations, including:
Equipment setup, inventory, and upgrades
Lab space configuration and scheduling
Usage tracking and data reporting
Facility troubleshooting and maintenance coordination
Offering input on the design of learning activities to maximize immersion and impact
Administering and troubleshooting unclassified computing networks, standalone systems, and complex XR environments
What We’re Looking For:
Active Secret clearance (minimum) with TS eligibility
Hands-on experience building and maintaining VR/XR/AR environments
Familiarity with Unity or Unreal Engine
A working knowledge of immersive hardware trends and capabilities
At least 5 years of IT systems experience (within the past 10 years)
An independent problem-solver with strong communication and organizational skills
Passion for innovation, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new tools and methods
A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
