The Software/DevSecOps Engineer is responsible for developing and testing software application development and DevSecOps frameworks to drive efficiency, security, and scalability using the DevSecOps paradigm on cloud environments.
The engineer oversees the deployment and optimization of the DevSecOps platform, ensuring it meets client needs while fostering a culture of continuous improvement through feedback and iterative development. This role involves active collaboration, leveraging diverse perspectives to design and implement effective solutions informed by a thorough understanding of organizational and client-specific challenges.
Clearance: Current DoD Secret Clearance (adjudicated within the last 5 years)
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and standardize application development using SAFe Agile, and DevSecOps, to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality in software development across projects.
• Develop and implement standard operating policies and procedures for application development to guide teams and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Establish a DevSecOps platform to streamline development, security, and operations while maintaining flexibility across cloud environments.
• Expertise in developing applications using container technologies.
• Lead and support Agile development efforts by establishing a secure software factory.
• Establish an automated test strategy/plan and incorporating security testing, functional testing and unit testing using automated tools.
• Drive innovation in software development by advocating for new technologies, methodologies, and approaches to enhance the organization's capabilities and efficiency.
• Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
• Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
• Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
Basic Qualifications:
A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
• Completed their degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution
• Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).
• Experience with/using Agile Methodology and Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD) Tools and Practices
• Proficiency in any combination of C# or Java
• Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in DevSecOps development. Preferably closer to 5 years to get them on the team.
• Development in a DevSecOps environment,
• Experience with SAFe agile
• Experience with Atlassian tools including JIRA
• Microservice development
• Some of the resources also need experience with automated testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
• Current DoD Secret Clearance (adjudicated within the last 5 years)
• Scaled Agile Framework / Agile development process
• Proficiency in C#, .NET Framework
• Experience with Microservice development and service communication protocols such as REST or AsyncAPI
• Experience with Object Oriented Design and Software Design Patterns
• Experience with/using Relational Databases, SQL (specifically PostgreSQL + Liquibase would be nice)
• Experience with/using one or more of the following scripting languages: yaml, Python, PowerShell, Curl
• Experience with Agile Software Development and DevOps practices
• Experience with/using one or more of the following configuration management tools: Git, GitHub,
• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite: Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence
• Familiarity with/using Containers in Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Experience with Typescript, React, Java/.Net backend, helm/Kubernetes deployment, using CI/CD pipelines with cyber and quality gates
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong interpersonal and analytic skills
• Works well in a team environment
• Previous in-depth mission planning domain knowledge of program software design and code
• Quick learner and agile mindset, not intimidated by complex dev environment and process
