Description Summary:
We are seeking a Junior SysOps Engineer to join a high-impact team responsible for sustaining and
evolving secure, cloud-based systems critical to national defense operations. This role offers hands-on
experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, systems administration, and cybersecurity best practices. As part
of a collaborative team, you will contribute to the maintenance, deployment, and continuous improvement
of mission-critical services hosted in the AWS cloud. While the position begins as 100% on-site at Scott
AFB, candidates may become eligible for hybrid remote work based on project needs and performance.
Ideal for early-career professionals, this role supports growth in cloud infrastructure management,
automation, and security operations, with strong potential for AWS certification and long-term career
advancement. You will gain real-world experience working in a secure Department of Defense (DoD)
environment and play a part in keeping essential systems running securely and efficiently.
What you will do:
• Monitor AWS-hosted infrastructure, system logs, and security events to ensure uptime,
compliance, and performance.
• Support the deployment of production updates using Jenkins pipelines and scripting tools (e.g.,
PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Troubleshoot and assist with the operation of Windows IIS servers, Oracle RDS databases, and
Docker-based applications.
• Participate in certificate lifecycle management (SSL/TLS), including renewals and troubleshooting.
• Support functional service representatives (FSRs) by investigating and resolving user-reported
issues using structured playbooks.
• Assist in maintaining secure and compliant operations aligned with DoD cybersecurity policies.

• 1–3 years of experience in IT operations, cloud support, or system administration.
• Active Security+ certification (required prior to start).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
• AWS certification (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner or Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate).
• Experience with Windows IIS, Oracle RDS, or Docker containers.
• Prior exposure to federal or defense-related IT systems.
