Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor building the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, NASA's first spacecraft crafted for long-duration, human-rated deep space exploration. Orion will transport humans to interplanetary destinations beyond low Earth orbit to the moon, eventually Mars, and return them safely back to Earth.
Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full-time Program Quality Engineer. In this role, you will work as a Quality Engineer supporting the Orion Human Space Flight program at Kennedy Space Center ensuring the reprocessing, refurbishment and testing of all reuse hardware meets quality requirements; Work with the experienced Quality Engineering team to develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished material products and review and approve of Drawing Problem Reports, Changes Task, Test Procedure reviews, manufacturing work instructions reviews and PO closure activities.
Additionally in this role you will be performing the tasks below:
- Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
- Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
- Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
- Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college in technical disciplines (e.g. engineering field) or equivalent discipline (e.g. math, physics, chemistry, etc.).
• Experience and/or knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and/ or technical specifications.
• The ability to work an evolving shift schedule that will include weekend and off-shift hours, as required to support program objectives.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust security clearance and US Citizenship required.
Desired Skills:
• Experience in Manufacturing or Quality engineering position
• Knowledge of Quality Systems and Processes
• Ability to develop performance metrics using Microsoft Excel and take appropriate action
• Demonstrated knowledge of non-conformance handling and disposition.
• Experience with human spaceflight NASA/DCMA customers
• Experience with working in an Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations (ATLO) and Production environment
• Experience in Design/Test Readiness/Manufacturing Readiness Reviews
• Certified in lean, six-sigma quality engineering methodologies and root cause corrective action training/certification
• Knowledge of SAP operating systems, Automation Framework, EPDM, P2P, and VECAMS
• ASQE certified

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
