Position Overview
The MCICOM G9 Installations Analytics Support Senior Data Engineer will support the G9's Installation Analytics, Future Data Environment, and Common Output Levels of Service (COLS) program and to further develop an ecosystem in which data is collected, stored, and processed for strategic analysis supportive of the Installations portfolio. This will include, but is not limited to, leveraging technologies to periodically update, manage, and utilize data effectively to support strategic decisions.

Position Overview

This will include, but is not limited to, leveraging technologies to periodically update, manage, and utilize data effectively to support strategic decisions.
Essential Job Function
- Authoritative and non-authoritative data sources: Gather, assemble, analyze, and update authoritative and non-authoritative data, draw conclusions, develop, and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and data normalization to produce valid and reliable findings and analysis, and provide recommended solutions to improve data quality.
- Data Storage and Infrastructure: Develop relational databases; data warehouses that include central repositories for structured data to maximize usage for querying and analysis; data lakes for unstructured and structured data.
- Data processing: Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools for data integration; batch processing for large amounts of data at scheduled intervals; and if an API exists, stream processing of real-time data.
- Data Management: Establish data governance policies and procedures for data quality, data privacy and compliance; data cataloging; and data security.
- Data analytics: Utilize government business intelligence tools for reporting, dashboards, and supporting visualizations.
- Data infrastructure: Leverage government-provided infrastructure to include data centers, cloud environment, or a hybrid of both.
- Data processes: Lead efforts to innovate, extract, and extrapolate knowledge and insights from unstructured and structured data to provide MCICOM processes and visualizations to support planning, programming, budget, and execution decisions. Perform data cleaning to remove outliers, errors, and data inconsistencies.
- Design data architecture: Develop the overall structure and layout of an organization's data systems; Create data models, schemas, and data flow diagrams; define data standards, policies, and procedures; and ensure data architecture aligns with business goals and requirements.
- Design and implement data integration: Develop strategies for data integration across different systems and sources; design ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data pipelines; and implement data integration solutions to ensure data consistency and quality.
- Define data governance and security: Establish data governance frameworks and policies; define data access controls, security measures, and privacy standards; and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Optimize data performance and scalability: Design and optimize database structures for performance and scalability; Implement data partitioning, indexing, and caching strategies. Monitor and tune database performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and align with business objectives; Collaborate with data engineers, data analysts, and other IT teams to implement and maintain data architecture; and communicate data architecture concepts and decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience and a minimum BA degree in data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, operations research or another technical field of study with expert knowledge of data bases, data modeling, and SQL
