Support mission-critical operations as a Software Systems Engineer, Craftsman in Colorado Springs.

In this role, you will conduct software development and test support for ground-based missile warning systems. Your efforts will help validate system effectiveness through rigorous, operationally realistic testing-directly influencing U.S. Space Force mission readiness.

Pay: $155,000 - $170,000

Essential Duties

Software Development for Operational Testing
  • Design and develop software tools to support testing and evaluation of DoD mission systems
  • Create solutions that enable statistical and technical analysis of system performance using real-world and simulated data
  • Write Test Execution Procedures and contribute to detailed test reports

Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze test data using statistical tools to identify trends, anomalies, and mission effectiveness
  • Produce comprehensive test reports with tables, graphs, and findings based on data analysis
  • Recommend system improvements and fielding decisions based on test outcomes

Collaboration & Test Planning
  • Collaborate with engineers and analysts to ensure clarity of test objectives and methodology
  • Provide feedback on test design and help iterate future test efforts
  • Support team members by delivering data analytics tools and reviewing technical approaches

Technical Innovation & Efficiency
  • Continuously improve data reduction and analysis processes using automation and custom tool development
  • Communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and contribute to team-wide success

Required Qualifications
  • 6-10 years of Software Engineering experience
  • Proficiency in MATLAB for technical computing and analysis
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting technical diagrams or abstract concepts

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages: Java, JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS, Perl, PowerShell, shell scripting
  • Familiarity with LINUX and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite: JIRA, Bitbucket/GitLab, Confluence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Understanding of statistics: sampling, distributions, and regression techniques
  • Knowledge of United States Space Force test and evaluation practices
  • Experience in both manual and automated testing for DoD systems
  • Familiarity with missile warning or missile defense mission domains

Education & Certification
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field OR additional years of experience can substitute for degree requirement.

Required Clearance
  • Top Secret / SCI

Travel
  • Occasional travel required: Greater than 10%
