Summary of Position
The Project Controller will be responsible for controlling project revenues and expenditures from sales to execution to project completion. Responsibilities encompass sales controlling, performance measurement, planning, forecasting and reporting. The Project Controller will work across multiple departments and is integral to the Ascent Aerospace team completing projects on time and within budgetary guidelines.
Essential Functions
Support the Project Manager in managing and optimizing targeted financial results with due professional care (e.g. project gross profit, cash flow, assets, and financing instruments)
Perform financial planning, forecasting, controlling, reconciliation of project cash flow, and constant deviation analysis. Ensure data integrity between SAP back-end and front-end tools
Set up financial performance plan for the project based on the planned delivery schedule for the offered scope during the sales phase and manage it throughout the project execution phase
Implement, maintain and audit required cost accounting and reporting processes for government programs ensuring compliance with FAR / CAS / TINA requirements
Set up and closely monitor revenue recognition: actual vs plan, degree of completion, cost to complete, total forecasted costs vs planned. Ensure full compliance of revenue and cost recognition with Ascent Aerospace accounting policies under US-GAAP, as well as overall compliance with internal controls
Apply Earned Value Management methodology to track project performance and inform senior management on the progress of key projects
Support the responsible Project Manager on change management issues (variations) relating to the scope of the project. Obtain verification and approval of variations prior to submittal to the customer ensuring appropriate costing and pricing in accordance with PM
Support the Project Manager in identifying, evaluating, and assessing risks & opportunities, strategies, and response activities. Constantly assess risks & opportunities and their impact either in the risk register and/or in the gross margin while proposing measures to prevent negative margin slippage due to risks that could have been avoided
Implement and drive measures together with the Project Manager to leverage opportunities to improve the project performance, e.g., through claims and variation management
Support Project Manager in the timely issuing of invoices with a strong focus on managing Account Receivables and project cash flow
Drive Procurement together with the Project Manager by involving the responsible purchasing representative to ensure that the purchase orders are based on the best available bids and are within the set budget
Ensure consistent terms and conditions with suppliers/subcontractors in line with the end-customer contract
Influence team to take positive action and assume accountability for assigned work.
Regularly perform lessons-learned activities on commercial aspects and feed results into own project lessons-learned activities and into own organization
Drive interpersonal relationships, foster effective communication, and manage conflicts
Additional duties as assigned by management
Required Skills, Education & Experience
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:
Bachelor's degree in a finance-related field, such as Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Economics
4+ years’ experience in project related finance or accounting
The ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance and required Program clearance and maintain all security clearances for the duration of employment is required; having a clearance in place or within the last 6 months is a plus.
Previous relevant experience required to include time spent performing project cost accounting duties and in financial reporting roles
Advanced knowledge of accounting and analytical software, spreadsheet preparation and budgeting tools
Self-starter with the ability to learn systems quickly, and have the ability to capture and obtain information
Excellent analytical, presentation and communication skills. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22.C.F.R. § is required
Preferred Qualifications
Possess Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance
CPA or Master’s degree in finance-related field preferred
Experience with Percentage of Completion (POC) or Contract Accounting
Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
Exemplary history of financial project management
Contract Audit experience is a plus

Range 1 $75,000-$110,000
Range 2 $90,000-$130,000
