In this critical leadership role, you will guide the behavioral health team, coordinate directly with CBP and federal stakeholders, and ensure high-quality, trauma-informed care for children in federal custody.

What You'll Do
As an On-Call Lead Behavioral Health Specialist, you will serve as the clinical and operational lead during designated shifts. You'll manage a team of Child Well-Being Specialists, support case escalations, and act as the key liaison between field staff and federal leadership.
Core Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide clinical guidance to Child Well-Being Specialists
- Serve as the primary liaison with CBP leadership, DHS headquarters, and care teams
- Lead resolution of complex and high-risk child well-being cases
- Coordinate daily staffing coverage and respond to surge needs
- Collaborate with external agencies to ensure effective care coordination
- Conduct staff performance reviews and lead professional development efforts
- Contribute to policy and process improvements across the program
This is an on-call leadership role with flexible coverage expectations:
- 8 hours onsite + 4 hours on-call (as needed) per shift
- Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on operational demand
- Must be able to return onsite during on-call hours if required
- Master's or Doctoral degree in a behavioral health field
- Active, unrestricted license as one of the following:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LICSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Psychologist (LP)
- Minimum 5 years of post-licensure experience in:
- Child development
- Trauma-informed care
- Clinical evaluations
- At least 2 years of experience managing behavioral health or social service teams
- Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred (minimum ILR 3/5 or equivalent)
- Ability to lead in high-pressure, dynamic, and evolving environments
- Support vulnerable children in a critical care setting
- Lead a dedicated, mission-driven behavioral health team
- Maintain flexible hours while contributing to life-changing work
